Panthers Basketball Club, formerly Portlethen Community Basketball Club was formed in 2006 by Archie and Sandra McKechnie. The first members were pupils from Portlethen Academy who were looking for a basketball outlet after they left school.
From a starting membership of 36, 10 years later, Panthers now has over 300 members with teams competing at Senior Men & Women, U18 Men & Women, U16 Boys & Girls, U14 Boys & Girls, U12 Boys & Girls and U10 & 8 Boys & Girls. Panthers is a Positive Coaching Sotland (PCS) approved Club which means all coaches, parents and players are aligned to the PCS vision and key principles. The support of parents, coaches, team reps, table officials, referees and volunteers has further helped to create the positive environment in which Panthers players learn and are encouraged to improve.
Panthers has a variety of training venues in South Aberdeenshire and a session to suite every age and ability. Our main training venues are Portlethen Academy, Mackie Academy, Mearns Academy and Stonehaven Leisure Centre.
