PANTHERS SENIOR MEN CONTINUE WINNING STREAK

Sunday nights game saw a quick return of action for the Panthers mens team after friday. In this matchup the men faced polish side East Warriors. Junior Connor McConnach opened the game with a swish of a three pointer which was an early sign of how the quarter and game would go. The men jumped out to an early  lead with a fast paced breaking offense and a solid defensive showing with inside scores from rebounding machine Teejay Afolabi and Connor again striking from deep. Warriors eventually got points on the board but panthers continued to break and score leading by 13 at the break.

The second quarter began and continued in the same way as the first with panthers running and benefitting from a lot of long pinpoint Nick Ruta assists. The players who benefitted most from these assists were Martin Sandison and RGU women’s coach Miles Felletti as Panthers continued to extend their lead. The half finished with panthers leading 54-31.

Panthers came out the half with the starting 5 back on the floor and locked down the warriors during this period limiting them to their lowest scoring quarter allowing them only 10 points. The offensive barrage by the panthers continued with Mateusz Palczynski and Scott Murray also getting in on the action. At this point there seemed to be no stopping the panthers balanced quick offensive attack.

The fourth quarter began with a lull on the offensive end as panthers missed a few shots and seemed to take the foot off the gas. Rafa Mendana opened the scoring for panthers and the next points came from a Connor 3 pointer bringing him level for the game from deep with Martin as both hit 4 three’s throughout. Not a quarter devoid of action however as junior Connor McConnach picked up an unsportmanlike foul for a shove on the opposing number 7. The rest of the game went as panthers planned ensuring a well played game came with a big win.

Thanks to East Warriors for the contest. The panthers men are now 2-0 on the season and must keep their focus and attention if they want to keep this hot start up!

FINAL SCORE: EAST WARRIORS 56 – 91 PANTHERS BC
