In a rematch from last season, Panthers SW faced Grangemouth Ladies in the Chairman’s Cup. The game started well with Maria and Caitlin getting points on the board for Panthers. In the second quarter, Grangemouth began to extend their lead, but Panthers stayed in it with a huge quarter from Maria. Halftime score 22-37.
Starting the third quarter Panthers were put under full court pressure again and were extremely frustrated on offence with shots just not falling. It looked like the game was lost as Grangemouth extended their lead going into the final quarter 30 – 61.
The fourth quarter was one to watch! Panthers came out the blocks hard and fast applying pressure everywhere. It was a defensive masterclass from Silvana, Linsi, Caitlin, June and Maria working together forcing turnover after turnover. The resulting fast breaks saw Panthers go on a 17-0 run. Unfortunately despite winning the fourth quarter 23-4 it was too little too late and Panthers were defeated.
