U16 Girls vs Dunfermline Reign

Two great (and really close) games yesterday for the Panthers U16 Girls Team. By invitation; Panthers Girls headed to Perth on Saturday 2nd March to play the top team in the National Development League – Dunfermline Reign. Panthers girls finished the end of the first quarter leading 11 to 8 and the competitive tone of the game was set! The lead changed back and forth and going into the last quarter the score was 27 vs 29 (Reign up by 2). The Panthers girls kept competing until the final whistle, but with Reign scoring an easy lay-up the final score was Panthers 36 vs Reign 39. Lots of positives to take from both games; we had much more possession of the ball; we were always threatening the basketball (need to work on finishing!), the team work and encouragement from team members (especially older Caitlin) was fantastic. We had 5 under 14 players on court yesterday, and when you consider that you still have 2 or 3 years to develop at this age-group – it is a really positive thing and great for building up your experience – you should all go into next weekends U14 RDL feeling more confident!

Special mention to Fraser Sim – who travelled with the team to be our table official – very well done Fraser!
Thanks to all the parents who supported the team by providing transport and cheering on the team from the side-lines.
